About Us
Who are we?

The Servant Sisters of Mary of Douala are a Catholic female religious congregation founded in 1939 by Monsignor Mathurin Marie Le Mailloux. Driven by a deep love for Christ and the Church, the sisters devote their lives to prayer, service of others, and the promotion of human dignity.
Our Charism
Our congregation draws its inspiration from the life of Mary, Servant of the Lord. Following her example, the sisters learn to be available to God’s will, to live in humility, and to serve with an open heart. This charism is expressed through special attention to the smallest and most vulnerable: children, young girls, women, the sick, and marginalized people.
Our Mission
At the heart of our vocation, we commit to:
- Serve the most vulnerable with compassion and care.
- Educate and train youth in accordance with human and Christian values.
- Provide spiritual guidance to communities and families, sharing the Word of God.
- Support the health and well-being of people in vulnerable situations.
Every daily action is, for us, a way to bring the Gospel through concrete service and active charity.
Our Values
The Servant Sisters of Mary of Douala live according to values that guide their mission:
- Humility: acknowledging the greatness of God and placing oneself at the service of others.
- Availability: responding to the needs of the Church and society with openness and flexibility.
- Brotherhood and solidarity: building bonds of closeness, listening, and mutual support.
- Faith and prayer: remaining deeply rooted in spiritual life to nourish our commitment.
Our Presence
From Douala, our congregation has gradually extended its presence through various communities and missions. Wherever we are sent, we seek to be a visible sign of God’s love, a concrete testimony of service, compassion, and hope.
