THE FIRST TWO RELIGIOUS SISTERS OF THE SERVANTS OF MARY OF DOUALA
On October 25, 1936, Maria Mengana and Francesca Edoa received the religious habit, taking the names Sisters Maria and Bernadette, respectively. Then, on February 2, 1939, novice Sisters Maria Mengana and Bernadette Edoa professed their first vows before Bishop Marie Mathurin le Mailloux. This event marks the founding of our Congregation, as religious life begins with the first profession. Sisters Maria and Bernadette professed their perpetual vows on February 5, 1948, and September 5, 1948, respectively.
